BAR1 is a non-profit exchange programme by artists for artists to foster the local, Indian and international mutual exchange of ideas and experiences through guest residencies in Bangalore.

The international residency is open to all artists from different backgrounds and with varied interests and projects. BAR1 hosts about 3 international artists during the months of January - June and October – December. Residencies last from three months to six months. Pro-Helvetica funds six months of the residency for Artists from Switzerland. We offer three months for artists from other parts of the world. The expenses of the residency need to be borne by the artist as we have no funds. The detail of the expenses could be provided to you. However we are trying our best to organize funds so that we can offer scholarships. We hope to be successful in the future.

Facilities: You will be provided with a furnished flat with working space and a co-ordinator, who will take care of your stay and provide contacts with local artist/ community and to help with your projects. The co-ordinator will be helping you around 10 days/ month according to your requirements.
